Four killed in Sragen car crash

SRAGEN, Central Java: Four people died in a traffic accident on the main road of Bener village in Ngrampel district of Sragen regency on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred when two motorbikes carrying the four collided due to slippery road conditions.

A speeding sedan struck the motorists from behind as the driver, Sudarmaji, 40, was unable to control the wheel.

"The road was very slippery after the rain. The driver could not avoid the motorbikes. The road is one of those areas prone to accidents," said Sragen Police chief Lt. Col. Siswaluyo.

The four people were rushed to a nearby hospital, but later died from injuries. They were identified as Tarno, 43, his wife Suminah, 38, Suparno, 20, and Sarju, 20. (har/edt)
