Four juniors compete in WC'ships

JAKARTA (JP): The Lemkari school of karate has sent four fighters to take part in the World Shotokan Karate Federation (WKSF) open championship in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Oct. 21 through to 22, an athlete told The Jakarta Post on Friday.

"Lemkari has sending three girls and a boy to the championship for the kumite events. The girls will also take part in kata events," Harisman, 17, said.

"The girls are Telly Melinda, 18, Meisia, 17, and Fatimah Azahra, 11. They will take part in the kata team event and Fatimah will also compete in the individual event," he added.

Harisman said his target was only to play as well as possible.

"If you play well usually you will have a good achievement. I was in the fifth place at an Asian Union of Karate Organizations (AUKO) Macao tournament in 1998," he said.

"Meanwhile, Telly got a silver and Meisia received a bronze medal at the same tournament," he added. (nvn)
