Four injured in Senen brawl

JAKARTA: Four people were injured and at least 14 homes were
damaged in a brawl between residents and an unidentified group of
people guarding a plot of at the finance ministry housing complex
in Senen, Central Jakarta.

The ministry planned to clear the land to make way for the
construction of twin towers there, but the residents, who have
been living in the area since 1996, refused to leave.

The injured were taken to nearby Gatot Subroto Army Hospital.

"Sawah Besar Police detectives are investigating the cause of
the brawl," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono was
quoted by Detik.com news portal. -- JP
