Four injured in border clash

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra: At least four people were injured in a clash over the border between Muara Enim regency and Prabumulih district on Wednesday.

One of the injured was from Karang Endah Selatan village in Gelumbang Prabumulih district. The three other people who were injured came from Lebak village in Lembak district, Muara Enim regency.

"We are guarding the border and we will not let them take it," Ali Hanafiah, a Lebak resident, said on Thursday.

Police officers from Lembak and Gelumbang were deployed to the scene to secure the area.

Muara Enim vice regent Hanan Zulkarnain said on Thursday that a meeting between residents of the two villages had been held. In the meeting, residents of the two villages agreed not to try and change the border. -- JP
