Four regional strategic projects (RSPs) in Karangasem Regency were forced to be cancelled or failed to tender after no bidders submitted any offers. The total value of the projects approaches almost Rp10 billion.

“There are four RSPs that failed to tender, possibly due to an increase in material prices as a result of the war in the Middle East,” said Head of Road Infrastructure at the Karangasem Public Works and Public Housing Service (PUPR), I Wayan Artawan, when met during a road project inspection in Selat District, Tuesday (19 May 2026).

Suartawan said the projects are spread across the districts of Kubu, Bebandem, and Rendang. The packages had previously been delayed, then tendered.

However, when the bidding process opened, no contractors were interested in participating in the tender. This condition is thought to be related to the surge in material prices in recent times.

“The initial tender still used the old price reference. Meanwhile, material prices have risen, so contractors are not willing to bid,” Artawan said.

To address this, the PUPR Office will conduct a price adjustment through the latest survey before re-drafting the Special Price Estimate (HPS). After that, the projects will be re-tendered in the near future.

“This adjustment does not take long, less than a month. Hopefully it can be tendered again soon and there will be interest from bidders,” Artawan hoped.
