Four Hectares of Land in Kubu, Karangasem, Engulfed by Fire

A land fire has once again struck the Kubu District in Karangasem, Bali. This time, four hectares of cashew, mango, and orange plantation land owned by I Ketut Partama were consumed by the blaze. Dukuh Village Head I Gede Suarsana stated that the land fire was first noticed by the owner, by which time the flames had already spread across the parched land. “Upon receiving the report, I immediately forwarded it to the fire brigade, as the burning land is close to residential areas,” Suarsana said on Saturday (4/7/2026). The victim could do little as the fire spread rapidly, fanned by strong winds and fuelled by abundant dry weeds. “Last year, this same land also caught fire, and now it has burned again this year,” Suarsana added. Suarsana noted that land fires frequently occur in the Kubu Karangasem area during the dry season. He admitted to previously proposing that a fire brigade post be stationed in the Kubu District during the dry months to enable quicker response to such incidents. The Karangasem Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines and 13 personnel to the scene. “Officers are currently handling the situation on site, and we hope the fire can be extinguished soon,” said Karangasem Fire and Rescue Service Head Artha Negara.
