Istanbul (ANTARA) - Missile and drone attacks struck four Gulf countries on Thursday morning, as the regional conflict related to the US-Israel war against Iran entered its 27th day.

The Saudi Ministry of Defence, in an official statement, said its air defences intercepted and destroyed 33 drones over the kingdom’s Eastern Province, announcing the development in a post on the US social media platform X.

Additionally, Bahrain’s civil defence teams successfully extinguished a fire at a facility in Muharraq province following what the Interior Ministry described as “Iranian aggression,” with no reports of injuries.

The ministry added that sirens were sounded twice but urged residents to remain calm, move to safe locations, and follow official instructions.

The United Arab Emirates stated that its air defences responded to missile and drone attacks launched from Iran, noting that sounds heard in parts of the country were the result of intercepting ballistic missiles and drones.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence said its air defences intercepted enemy missile and drone attacks, warning that explosion sounds might be heard during interception operations and urging the public to comply with official safety instructions.

National Guard spokesperson Brigadier General Jadan Fadel Jadan said two drones were shot down in areas under Kuwaiti protection, without disclosing the location. He described the action as part of ongoing efforts to enhance security, protect vital sites, and neutralise potential threats.

The regional escalation has intensified since the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on 28 February, which to date has killed more than 1,340 people, including the then Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military assets, causing casualties and infrastructure damage as well as disrupting global markets and aviation.
