Islamabad (ANTARA) -

Foreign Ministers (FM) of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, on Sunday (29/3), expressed full support for Pakistan’s initiative to host peace negotiations between the United States (US) and Iran in Islamabad.

In a message broadcast on television, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar stated that the participants agreed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to achieving sustainable peace, and emphasised the need to prevent further military escalation in the Middle East.

Dar said he had presented to the visiting foreign ministers the prospects of potential negotiations between the US and Iran, adding that both sides expressed confidence in Pakistan’s role as a facilitator.

He continued that the meeting decided to form a committee consisting of senior officials from the four foreign ministries to enhance coordination and explore opportunities for deeper cooperation among the participating countries.

According to Dar, the meeting focused on the evolving regional situation as well as efforts to de-escalate tensions and end ongoing conflicts. The initiative received strong support from all participating countries.

The ministers also expressed concern over the humanitarian and economic impacts of the ongoing conflicts, stating that sustained hostilities would only lead to greater destruction and instability, said Dar.

Dar also assured that the visiting foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting efforts to create conditions for structured negotiations between the relevant parties.
