Denpasar – The management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has announced that four international flights from Denpasar have experienced delays and schedule adjustments due to airspace closures following attacks on Iran.

“In relation to airspace closures in a number of countries, we can report that there are several flight routes at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport experiencing flight delays and/or flight schedule adjustments,” said Gede Eka Sandi, Communication and Legal Division Head of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

Gede Eka stated in an official statement in Denpasar on Saturday that as of 21:00 Wita, at least one international flight had been postponed or had its schedule adjusted – Etihad Airways flight EY477 from Denpasar (DPS) to Abu Dhabi (AUH).

Meanwhile, three other international flights have been cancelled or had their departures delayed: Emirates flight EK369 from Denpasar (DPS) to Dubai (DXB), Emirates flight EK399 from Denpasar (DPS) to Dubai (DXB), and Qatar Airways flight QR963 from Denpasar (DPS) to Doha (DOH).

The airport will also coordinate regarding handling of prospective passengers who have already arrived at the airport before learning of the impact of airspace closures in various countries.

“Coordination with AirNav Indonesia is also ongoing to monitor affected airspace, as well as with security personnel to anticipate security situations at the airport,” he said.

Gede Eka urged prospective airline passengers to maintain communication with airlines for updated flight schedule information.

The wave of airspace closures occurred following combined military action by the United States and Israel against several regions in Iran. According to Al Jazeera, countries currently closing their airspace include Iran, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and parts of Syria.
