Four Fake KPK Employees Arrested, USD 17,400 Seized

A joint team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Metro Jaya Police arrested four people suspected of impersonating anti-corruption agency staff on Thursday, 9 April 2026. The four fake employees also claimed they could arrange the handling of suspected corruption cases at the KPK. “The suspected perpetrators were secured in the West Jakarta area,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters, as reported by ANTARA on Friday, 10 April 2026. In addition, the joint team seized evidence in the form of USD 17,400 during the arrest. “In that activity, the team also secured evidence in the form of money amounting to USD 17,400,” he added. He explained that the four individuals claimed to be envoys from KPK leadership, instructed to demand money from a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives. “It is suspected that this demand is not the first time,” Budi stated. Furthermore, Budi urged all ministries/agencies, local governments, state-owned enterprises/regional enterprises, and various other community elements to always be alert and cautious. “Be careful with various tactics by individuals who impersonate KPK employees and commit criminal acts, fraud, extortion, or claim to be able to arrange cases at the KPK,” he clarified. In addition, he said the KPK invites the public who know of such tactics to immediately report to local law enforcement or to the KPK via the call centre or hotline 198 so that it can be followed up promptly. “We emphasise that in carrying out every assignment, KPK employees are always equipped with assignment letters and official identity cards issued by the KPK,” he said. He continued, “KPK employees are also prohibited from promising or receiving, let alone demanding, any form of reward, so it is untrue if any party promises to ‘handle’ a case being processed by the KPK.” He also stated that the KPK never appoints any organisation or institution as an ‘extension of hand’, partner, consultant, lawyer, or representative of the anti-corruption agency. “The KPK never issues or collaborates with media that use the KPK name or something similar to the KPK.
