Polda Metro Jaya, in collaboration with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), has arrested four individuals who claimed to be KPK employees. The four were apprehended in West Jakarta.

“On Thursday night (9/4), a joint team from the KPK and Polda Metro Jaya Jakarta secured four individuals suspected of impersonating KPK employees and claiming they could arrange case handling at the KPK. The suspected perpetrators were detained in the West Jakarta area,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Friday (10/4/2026).

Evidence amounting to USD 17,400 was seized during the arrest. The four are suspected of demanding money from a DPR member.

“In their modus operandi, these individuals claimed to be emissaries from KPK leadership, instructed to request a sum of money from the DPR member. It is believed this is not the first time such a demand has been made,” he stated.

The police then took the four individuals to Polda Metro Jaya for further examination. The KPK has urged the public to be wary of similar tactics.

“Subsequently, the detained parties were immediately brought to Polda Metro Jaya Jakarta for further examination. The KPK appeals to all ranks in ministries, institutions, local governments, SOEs, regional SOEs, and various other elements of society to remain vigilant and cautious against various tactics by individuals who impersonate KPK employees,” he said.

Budi emphasised that the KPK is always equipped with official identification and does not accept rewards in carrying out its duties. The public who become aware of similar tactics can report them directly to law enforcement authorities or the KPK.

“The KPK never appoints any organisation or institution as an ‘extension’ of its hand, partner, consultant, lawyer, or representative of the KPK. The KPK also never issues or collaborates with media that use the KPK name or something similar to it,” he added.
