A car struck the fence of the residence of Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), in the Dharmawangsa area of South Jakarta. The fence was left badly damaged.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (18/2/2026) at 03.45 Western Indonesian Time. The driver was a woman identified by her initials HP (35).

“It is correct that we received information about the incident involving the fence of the residence being struck,” said South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Section Chief AKBP Murodih when asked for confirmation.

The following are the key facts of the incident:

  1. Driver Suspected of Falling Asleep

Murodih said the driver of the Hyundai Santa Fe was suspected of having fallen asleep at the wheel. He explained that the driver has agreed to repair the fence.

“The driver was probably drowsy, which caused her to lose control,” Murodih said.

  1. Driver Was Heading Home

Murodih said the driver had been on her way home at the time. Her residence is located in Jagakarsa.

“Yes, it happened early this morning, at around 03.45 WIB if I’m not mistaken. Yes, she was planning to head home. What is clear is that the driver lives in Jagakarsa,” Murodih explained.

  1. Several Fence Bars Came Loose

Based on photographs seen on Wednesday (18/2/2026), the black fence was no longer standing in its original position. The fence sections had been moved and placed near the property’s security post.

Several iron bars on the fence were also visibly detached. Even the stone supports of the fence had been dislodged.

  1. Driver Requests Mediation

HP has requested that mediation be conducted. The mediation aims to resolve the matter and repair the damaged fence.

“The plan is for there to be mediation to repair the damage there,” Murodih said.

Nevertheless, Murodih stated that authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the precise cause of the accident. The incident resulted in damage to the fence of JK’s residence.

“It doesn’t appear so, no (no indication of intoxication). But we are indeed still investigating,” he concluded.
