Four Facts About the Awe-Inspiring Trumpet Blast, a Sign of Doomsday
The trumpet blast by the Angel Israfil is one of the major events that will occur on the Day of Judgment. In Islamic teaching, this blast not only marks the destruction of the universe but also signals the resurrection of all humanity to face Allah. The Qur’an and the hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) describe several facts about Israfil’s trumpet, from the awe-inspiring sound to the trumpet’s form, which is described as resembling a horn.
- The Trumpet Blast Startles All Creation
Allah the Almighty explains that the trumpet blast will cause all beings in the heavens and the earth to be terrified and astonished.
And on the day when the trumpet is blown, those in the heavens and those on the earth will be terrified, except whom Allah wills. And all of them will come before Him in humility. (Qur’an, Surah An-Naml: 87)
The verse illustrates the enormity of the Day of Judgment, when all creation experiences profound fear due to the trumpet blast.
- Humans Die and Are Raised Again Because of the Trumpet Blast
The Qur’an also explains that the first blast of the trumpet causes all beings in the heavens and the earth to die, while the second blast serves as the sign of their resurrection from the tomb.
And the trumpet is blown, and all who are in the heavens and the earth fall dead except whom Allah wills. Then it is blown again, and behold they are standing, awaiting the decree of Allah. (Qur’an, Surah Az-Zumar: 68)
These verses explain the phase of cosmic destruction and the resurrection of humans on the Last Day.
