Four Defendants in BKI Fictitious Project Case to Stand Trial on 20 August

The Jakarta Corruption Court will commence the trial of four defendants in the alleged fictitious project corruption case at PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) on Thursday, 20 August. The four defendants are Budi Prakoso, Ardhian Budi Sulistiyo, Arif Bijaksana Satria Negara, and Risa Hendra. Budi Prakoso served as the Head of the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) for Marine and Offshore Migas at PT BKI, while Ardhian Budi Sulistiyo and Arif Bijaksana Satria Negara were Senior Managers of Operations and Business Support, respectively, within the same SBU. Risa Hendra is the Director of PT Pilar Mandiri.

The case concerns alleged corruption in supporting work for the issuance of Verified Gross Mass (VGM) certificates at PT BKI’s Marine and Offshore Migas SBU during the 2021-2023 period. Investigators allege that PT BKI made payments to PT Pilar Mandiri for work that was never actually carried out. It is further alleged that a portion of the funds paid to PT Pilar Mandiri was subsequently channelled back to internal parties at PT BKI. The appointment of PT Pilar Mandiri as a third-party vendor is also suspected to have been conducted without following proper qualification procedures. The alleged corruption resulted in state financial losses totalling IDR 15.58 billion. PT BKI has since deposited the full amount of the loss, IDR 15.58 billion, with the North Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.
