Four Defendants in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus Collectively Apologise and Express Regret
JAKARTA - Four defendants in the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus collectively apologised and expressed regret for their actions.
They conveyed this during the defendant examination agenda at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
In the case, there are four TNI BAIS members as defendants, namely Sersan Dua Edi Sudarko, Letnan Satu (Lettu) Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Kapten Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and Lettu Sami Lakka.
“We apologise to the victim, hoping for a quick recovery, and our hope is that we can return to duty as TNI because that’s how we support our families,” stated Edi.
Meanwhile, the second defendant, Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, also admitted regret for being involved in the acid attack.
“We deeply regret what I did together with the other defendants; it turns out that doing so had very negative consequences,” said Budhi.
“To the victim, we pray for a quick recovery, return to a healthy and fit position, and we apologise profusely for the treatment I carried out. Thank you,” continued Budhi.
The third defendant, Kapten Nandala Dwi Prasetya, also prayed for Andrie Yunus to recover soon and return to activities.
Nandala also promised not to repeat actions that endanger others.
“And our hope is that we are processed with the lightest possible sentence because it’s to support our families,” explained Nandala.
Meanwhile, Lettu Sami Lakka also apologised to Andrie and his family for the acid attack.
“I apologise to Mr Andrianus and his family, to the TNI leadership, to all Indonesian citizens for the commotion we caused, which tarnishes the TNI institution. We apologise profusely,” continued Sami Lakka.
Previously, four Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel were charged with throwing acid at KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus in Central Jakarta.
The four defendants are Sersan Dua Edi Sudarko, Letnan Satu (Lettu) Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Kapten Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and Lettu Sami Lakka.
“The defendants considered Mr Andrie Yunus to have insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” stated Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps Hukum (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi during the trial at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Wednesday.
The four defendants are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023.
