Four Defendants in Acid Attack Case Want to Apologise Directly to Andrie Yunus

The defendants in the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus have admitted they wish to apologise. They intend to apologise directly to Andrie.

This was stated during the continuation of the trial held at the Pengadilan Militer Jakarta II-08 on Wednesday (13/05/2026). The presiding judge, Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian, initially gave the defendants the opportunity to speak.

“My question is, what are your hopes and requests to the victim Andrie Yunus and to the general public. Please proceed,” said the judge.

“First, we convey our utmost apologies to the TNI Commander, then to the Minister of Defence, the Head of Bais, and all our leaders and all TNI soldiers for our actions, we apologise for damaging the TNI’s image,” said defendant I, Edi Sudarko.

“Second, we apologise to the victim, may you recover fully, and our hope is that we can return to service as TNI soldiers because that is how we support our families,” he continued.

The judge then gave the floor to defendant Lieutenant Mar Budhi Hariyanto. Budhi also expressed an apology.

“We deeply regret what we have done together with the other defendants, that by doing so it turned out to have negative consequences. Our utmost apologies to the honourable TNI Commander, Minister of Defence, TNI leadership elements and TNI Bais for the incident, we repeat that we are very sorry. Because our hope is that we or I can continue serving, because I have a family and children to support,” said Budhi.

“What about the victim?” asked the judge.

“For the victim, we pray for a swift recovery to full health, and our utmost apologies for the treatment I carried out,” replied Budhi.

The judge then asked if they wanted to apologise directly to Andrie. The defendants stated they wished to apologise to Andrie.

“I will apologise directly. Yes,” answered Edi, Budhi, Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and Sami Lakka.

For information, the Andrie Yunus case began to be tried in the military court on Wednesday (29/4). In this case, there are four defendants who are TNI members.

The prosecutor charged the four soldiers with violating Article 469 paragraph 1 subsidiary Article 468 paragraph 1 further subsidiary Article 467 paragraph 1 in conjunction with paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
