Four Debt Collectors Who Attacked a Mobile Brigade Officer in Serang Arrested, Six More Hunted
Yesterday, we secured two more suspects. So, in total, there are four suspects who have been apprehended,” said the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Banten Police, Commissioner Dian Setyawan, on Thursday (June 4, 2026).
Dian stated that the apprehended suspects are among those who participated in the assault on the victim. Some threw stones at the victim and made threats.
“Their role here is that they were all at the location. Some threw stones, and with threats and intimidation, they tried to seize the victim’s vehicle, a 2024 Daihatsu Xenia,” he said.
Currently, the police are pursuing six other suspects who are believed to be involved. The pursuit is ongoing in several locations.
“We are still pursuing them; we have identified all of them, and there are six people,” he said.
Dian reminded that there should be no more acts of thuggery by debt collectors in the jurisdiction of the Banten Police. He promised to take firm action against the perpetrators.
“We also want to convey that there should be no more acts of thuggery by seizing vehicles on the street, especially in the Banten Police area. And we promise to take firm action against those who do this,” he said.
Previously, it was reported that the attack by debt collectors occurred in Serang, Banten. The victims in this incident were two members of the Mobile Brigade of the Banten Police.
The Head of Public Relations of the Banten Police, Commissioner Maruli Hutapea, said that the attack occurred on Tuesday (June 2) night. Before the incident, there was an argument between the debt collectors and the two Mobile Brigade members.
“Since the afternoon, they had been monitoring. Then, one of our personnel had an argument, and then the debt collectors came, totaling 11 people, and carried out the assault and attack on our personnel from the Mobile Brigade,” said Maruli on Wednesday (June 3, 2026).
He said that the two Mobile Brigade members suffered lacerations from sharp weapons. Both had to receive treatment after the incident.
“The victims from the Mobile Brigade personnel suffered lacerations on their right hands and injuries to their heads,” he said.
The perpetrators then fled, taking the car that was previously used by the Mobile Brigade members and a Fortuner. Other Mobile Brigade members who were victims then arrived at the scene. The perpetrators then fled the location.
After being chased, two perpetrators were secured near the Serang Barat Toll Gate. Both were beaten by the crowd.
