Four Dead in Bantargebang Waste Landslide
The Bantargebang Integrated Waste Management Facility in Bekasi, West Java experienced a landslide on Sunday, 8 March 2026. The collapse of the waste mountain resulted in four deaths.
According to data shared by Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency Executive Head Isnawa Adji, two victims were local residents whilst the other two were dump truck drivers. “Following coordination with Jakarta’s Environmental Services Office, as of Monday at 10 o’clock, four people have been confirmed dead,” he stated.
Jakarta Search and Rescue Operations Section Head Akhmad Rizkiansyah reported the total casualty count at 13 people. This comprised four fatalities, five individuals still being searched for, and four others already found safe.
He indicated that 336 combined personnel were deployed to search for the missing victims of the Bantargebang landslide. These personnel were also tasked with securing the affected area.
Additionally, 15 excavator units were mobilised for the search and rescue operation at the Bantargebang facility. Multiple ambulances were placed on standby for victim evacuation.
