Four Days Before Eid, Pasar Senen Station Packed with Homebound Travellers
Pasar Senen railway station in central Jakarta was crowded with homebound travellers awaiting train departures on the fourth day before Eid al-Fitr. The conditions made the available seating in waiting areas insufficient to accommodate the large number of passengers.
According to reports from the location on Tuesday morning, numerous passengers awaiting train departures were forced to sit on the floor without mats because all provided chairs had been occupied.
Additionally, the main lobby of Pasar Senen station was packed with homebound travellers. There was scarcely any empty space, with prospective passengers waiting in every corner.
Suyitno, a homebound traveller from Cilacap Regency in Central Java, stated he was not bothered by having to sit on the floor whilst waiting for departure. He understood the situation because this is currently the peak travel season for homecoming journeys.
βIt is indeed crowded right now, so all the seating is already full,β said Suyitno on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
The man, who intended to return to Cilacap Regency, said he was comfortable using railway transport. Besides the relatively affordable ticket prices, conditions inside the train were also considered comfortable.
