Four Days Before Eid, 17,000 Passengers Depart from Gambir Station
Jakarta (ANTARA) – A total of 17,657 train passengers departed from Gambir Station in Jakarta on Tuesday, four days before Eid 2026.
“This figure is significantly higher than the recorded arrival volume of 4,918 passengers,” stated Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager for PT KAI’s Jakarta Regional Operation (Daop 1), in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The highest number of departing passengers was recorded at Pasar Senen Station, which reached 24,412 people, whilst arrivals at that station totalled 8,700 people.
According to Franoto, the most popular trains for passengers departing from Gambir Station include Pandalungan, Argo Semeru, Gunungjati, Cakrabuana, Pangandaran, and Batavia.
For departures from Pasar Senen Station, the most popular trains among holiday travellers include Bengawan, Airlangga, Serayu, Kertajaya, Jayakarta, and Progo.
Franoto noted that the total departure volume from all stations across the Jakarta Daop 1 region, including Karawang, Bekasi, Cikampek, Jatinegara, and Cikarang, reached 54,216 passengers, whilst arrivals totalled 22,574 passengers.
This figure represents a decline compared to the previous day, which recorded 56,446 departing passengers and 24,866 arriving passengers.
“On a cumulative basis from 11 to 17 March 2026, the outbound volume was 346,845 passengers, whilst the inbound volume was 163,582 passengers,” Franoto stated.
PT KAI’s Jakarta Regional Operation has provided a total seating capacity of 1,083,623 seats during the 2026 Eid holiday travel period. As of now, the remaining available seats total 343,914.
Daily, the operation provides 68 regular long-distance passenger trains, 12 additional Eid holiday trains from Gambir, seven additional Eid holiday trains from Pasar Senen, and four complimentary motor trains.
