Four convicts awaiting execution

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Medan Penitentiary is holding four convicts who are waiting for execution, said a senior official at the North Sumatra Office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights on Tuesday.

Lukas Tarigan, the head of the Penitentiary Division at the office, said that three of the four were foreigners.

They have been identified as Achmad Suradji, Ayodya Prasad Chaubey, an Indian national, Saelow Praseart from Thailand and Namsong Sirilak, the only woman, who is also Thai.

At least two are still appealing to the Supreme Court, while the others are seeking clemency from the president. They have been charged with offenses ranging from drug trafficking to murder. -- Antara
