Four children die in blast

KEBUMEN, Central Java: Four children died after a mortar they found and had been playing with exploded Saturday afternoon. Another child in the village of Setrojenar was seriously wounded in the blast.

The mortar took the lives of Nur Hamim, 15, who found the mortar, two-year-old Mafuri, five-year-old Setiadi, and Afif, who was eight. Wahyudi, two, is currently being treated at Bethesda Hospital in Yogyakarta.

Police said the location where the mortar was found was once used as a war games site for the Armed Forces, which closed off the area due to mortars buried there. No other information was available. (wah/har/12)
