Four members of the Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), allegedly fell victim to a stabbing by three Indonesian Army (TNI AD) soldiers in the early hours of Thursday (11/6). All four victims have undergone surgery at Siloam Hospital in Labuan Bajo.

Deputy Commander of Battalion B Pioneer, Brimob Unit of the East Nusa Tenggara Police, AKP Antonio Cortareal, confirmed that all the victims had received medical treatment. “All have undergone surgery,” Antonio stated on Thursday evening (11/6/2026). Antonio did not detail the condition of the stab wounds suffered by the victims. However, he mentioned that three victims remain hospitalised, while one has been permitted to receive outpatient care. “Three are being treated as inpatients,” Antonio disclosed.

Previously, the East Nusa Tenggara Police detailed the chronology of the alleged stabbing involving the four Brimob personnel. The case is currently under investigation. The Head of Public Relations for the East Nusa Tenggara Police, Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, explained that the incident began when several Brimob personnel attended a thanksgiving mass for the appointment of Brimob officer Bripda JGR in Waemata Hamlet, Gorontalo Village, on Wednesday evening (10/6/2026). According to Henry, the event proceeded in a safe, orderly, and familial atmosphere. However, as the night wore on, a misunderstanding occurred between the Brimob members and several Army soldiers at the location. The misunderstanding then sparked a brawl which culminated in the alleged stabbing.

As a result, Bripda RS, Bripda FA, Bripda BBK, and another Brimob member became victims of assault. Bripda RS, Bripda FA, and Bripda BBK suffered stab wounds to the back. Henry said that other personnel on the scene immediately intervened and de-escalated the situation to prevent it from worsening. Subsequently, the West Manggarai Police Chief ordered all personnel to return to the company headquarters in an orderly manner to maintain security stability in the area. “Our primary focus at this time is to ensure that all injured personnel receive proper medical care at Siloam Hospital Labuan Bajo,” Henry stated.

Henry stressed that the incident would not disrupt the good relations and synergy that have been established between the TNI and the Indonesian National Police in East Nusa Tenggara. He mentioned that a joint team from the internal affairs division and the Army Military Police is conducting an objective investigation to gain a complete picture of the event. “This step is taken to ensure the entire process proceeds transparently, professionally, and based on actual facts,” Henry said.
