Four bid for 2014 Asian Games
KUWAIT CITY: India, Jordan, North Korea and Vietnam have submitted formal notice of their desire to stage the 2014 Asian Games, the Olympic Council of Asia said Monday.
The Kuwait-based OCA said in a statement the four countries had filed letters of intent by the March 31 deadline to bid for the quadrennial event.
The statement said the four countries' Olympic committees will shortly receive documents that they should complete and return by June 30.
An evaluation committee then will visit the bidding cities to "assess their capability and readiness to organize the 2014 Asian Games," the statement added.
The OCA general assembly will select the winning city in a meeting to be held in Doha, Qatar, in December 2006, during the 15th Asiad. --AP
