Four Bais Members Designated as Perpetrators in Acid Attack on Activist, HAM-I: Proof TNI Shows No Favouritism
Jakarta – The swift action by the Indonesian National Armed Forces Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) in investigating the alleged acid attack on activist Andrie Yunus is beginning to yield results. Following a series of intensive investigations, the military authorities have officially designated rogue TNI members as suspects in the case that has captured public attention.
This designation of suspects is viewed as a positive signal for legal reforms within the military. The cross-sector coordination and openness of information shown by TNI Headquarters are considered distinguishing factors in handling recent cases of violence involving security personnel.
National Coordinator of the Indonesian Millennial Activists Association (HAM-I), Asip Irama, expressed high appreciation for the performance of Puspom TNI. According to him, this firm step proves that the slogan “TNI Together with the People” is not merely rhetorical embellishment, but is embodied in the supremacy of law without favouritism.
“We from the Indonesian Millennial Activists Association highly appreciate the swift and firm actions of Puspom TNI. The designation of suspects from internal rogue elements demonstrates a strong commitment from the TNI Commander to cleanse the institution of individuals who betray the people’s trust,” Asip stated in a written release in Jakarta, quoted on Thursday, 19 March 2026.
Asip emphasised that the TNI’s speed in identifying the perpetrators and disclosing it to the public is a form of transparency worthy of thumbs up. According to him, the public has often been sceptical when legal cases touch on rogue security personnel, but Puspom TNI has successfully broken that stigma.
In addition to appreciating Puspom, Asip Irama specifically highlighted the central role of the Head of the Information Centre (Kapuspen) TNI in communicating case developments straightforwardly. According to Asip, the current communication style of Kapuspen TNI reflects the figure of a senior officer of the future that the institution greatly needs.
“We see how Kapuspen TNI is able to manage information very well. He is a professional, open, and non-anti-criticism senior officer of the future. The narrative built is very transparent, leaving no room for fake news or wild speculation in society,” Asip said.
For HAM-I, the professionalism of Kapuspen TNI serves as a guarantee that the information reaching the public is objective facts. Figures like this senior officer are seen as capable of bridging the relationship between the military and the millennial and Gen Z generations who are highly critical of information openness issues.
