Four arrested for drug trafficking

BOGOR, West Java (JP): Cisarua Police subprecinct nabbed four drug traffickers in separate locations near the popular Puncak resort and confiscated 1.5 kilograms of marijuana, a police officer said on Thursday.

Subprecinct chief First Insp. Ogiyanto said the four arrested, were later identified as Dhenny Bachtiar bin Nurman, Alhamdy Asrul, Iwan Hermansyah and Amiruddin bin Maman.

He said the first arrest was made after the police received a tip-off from local residents about drug transactions near the Taman Safari park.

"Detectives rushed to the scene and arrested Dhenny and seized the evidence along with a notebook computer containing data on his drug sales," he said.

Ogiyanto said Dhenny told the police that the marijuana belonged to a man, named Amiruddin and that the drugs were ordered by another man, living in nearby Tugu village for Rp 1.2 million.

The police went to the address where they later arrested Amiruddin and Alhamdy. The two led the police to Iwan's rented house where they found 600 grams of dried marijuana leaves packed in 116 small bags.

"Amiruddin said, he bought the marijuana leaves from Aceh at Rp 600,000 to Rp 700,000 per kilogram, which he planned to sell at double the original price," Ogiyanto said. (21/lup)
