Four arrested for drug dealing
JAKARTA (JP): Police have arrested four people suspected of selling drugs on university campuses.
They were apprehended in a raid on their rental house on Jl. K.S. Tubun, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, police said.
Police identified the suspects as Idi Rusnadi, 25, Tony Sianipar, 20, Iwan Irawan, 19, and Hendri Sanyang, 25.
Hendri is a student of the law school of a prestigious state university in Jakarta.
"Actually we were looking for Idi for vehicle thefts. But when we raided the house, we found out that he was about to make transactions," chief of the Tanah Abang Police Subprecinct, Capt. Sigit, told reporters.
The police confiscated 0.25 kilograms of marijuana, 10 packages of putaw low-grade heroin and eight syringes.
All of the suspects will be charged under the Pyschotropics Law No.5/1997, which carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a Rp 50 million fine.
In a separate incident, officers from the Tanah Abang police subprecinct arrested Rahmat, 40, Sunday for allegedly raping his daughter.
The girl, a 16-year-old student, reported the incident to the police.
"She said that her father had raped her three times since last December. On Saturday she was raped in the morning when her mother went to the market," Sigit said.
"But when her father tried to rape her again in the afternoon, she resisted. She ran away and reported the case to us." (edt)
