Foundation Reveals How Hundreds of Weapons Were Discovered in South Jakarta School

The owner of a private school foundation in South Jakarta has detailed the circumstances surrounding the discovery of hundreds of weapons in a room belonging to the former chairman of the foundation. The foundation’s lawyer, Hermawanto, stated that the keys to the room were held by the former chairman, IWD.

“The initial incident on 10 July 2026, when the weapons were first discovered, began because the keys to the room were held by Mr IWD and his colleagues,” Hermawanto said in the South Jakarta area on Sunday (9/8/2026).

As they did not have access to the room, Hermawanto explained that they sent three official letters to IWD. The final letter contained a deadline for the room to be opened. “We gave a deadline. If by 10 July you do not open the room, then we will open it. Eventually, an agreement was reached that the room would be opened on that date because they were going to collect their belongings,” he revealed.

“So I need to emphasise, if we had access to the room, if the key was in our hands, we would not need to ask permission to enter,” he added. He also refuted claims that IWD’s party had been denied access to the school for months, stating that several other rooms are still under their control. “So if there is a narrative stating that they had no access for five months and that the room was controlled by the new school management, then I must say that narrative is untrue,” he said.

The opening of the room where the weapons were found was conducted by IWD’s party. Currently, two rooms remain sealed with police line.

Previously, Alhadid Endar Putra, the attorney for IWD and Director of PT Lokta Karya Perbakin, stated that the 995 airsoft guns belonged to his company. He claimed the weapons were stored at the school in connection with a planned extracurricular shooting programme between PT Lokta Karya Perbakin and the previous foundation management in 2020. He asserted that the weapons were official and licensed, and that he had shown the permits to the police.

Alhadid expressed surprise that the current foundation management appeared unaware of the weapons’ origins. He suspects the issue surfaced due to an internal conflict within the foundation’s management, which began after a previous foundation supervisor was unilaterally dismissed.
