Foundation distributes free health services
JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: The Shrawata foundation recently
dispensed medical services free of charge in Sorong regency in a
bid to help the poor from that area to get proper health
treatment, Shrawata Director Paskalis Taa said on Tuesday.
Taa added that the free medical treatment was provided for
people in Aimas district who were living in remote areas or those
who were unable to pay for medicine and other medical services.
The district is located on the border of Sorong regency and
Sorong township.
Funding for the activity was collected from donations from
doctors in Irian Jaya and their colleagues outside the province,
Paskalis said as quoted by Antara in Jayapura, the capital of
Irian Jaya.
The foundation was established to provide health services for
the needy who were often ignored by the government, said Paskalis
who used to work at St. Carolus Hospital in Jakarta. --Antara
