The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) used Ramadan to strengthen spiritual values and internal solidarity among its staff. Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian urged all employees to be grateful for their health and the opportunity to carry out acts of worship in the holy month, while also conducting self-reflection and increasing good deeds.

The appeal was made during a breaking-of-fast event and religious lecture at the An-Nuur Mosque, Kemendagri Central Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (4 March). The event, which featured preacher Ustaz Hilman Fauzi, was attended by all Kemendagri staff. In his remarks, Tito emphasised the importance of using Ramadan as a momentum to improve oneself. He hoped all staff would truly use the holy month to enhance integrity and the quality of their work.

“I have only one wish for you all; may in the holy month of Ramadan we all truly utilise it to improve and introspect ourselves,” Tito said.

According to Tito, strengthening spiritual values is important given Kemendagri’s strategic role as custodian and supervisor of local government administration. In addition, the ministry is tasked with accelerating reconstruction and rehabilitation after disasters in Sumatra, and routinely coordinating local inflation control. He said these responsibilities require coordination and strong solidarity among staff.

He believes that if all cadres perform their duties with integrity, every task will bring blessings. As head of Kemendagri and also the Head of the National Border Management Agency (BNPP), Tito urged all staff to deepen their faith and use Ramadan to increase their rewards.

“And [I] pray that all of us will receive blessings from Allah SWT in carrying out our duties,” he concluded.

During the event, Tito and colleagues handed out aid to orphans and to several employees in need. In a solemn atmosphere, the minister also listened to the religious lecture delivered by Ustaz Hilman Fauzi.

Present at the event were Tri Tito Karnavian, General Chairperson of the PKK TP; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya Sugiarto; Wamendagri Akhmad Wiyagus. Also in attendance were TP PKK Expert Staff for Strengthening Family Food Security Yane Bima Arya, as well as senior and middle-ranking officials within Kemendagri.
