Fortuner and Pajero Owners Now Shell Out Rp2 Million for a Full Tank of Fuel!

Owners of mid-to-upper-class diesel vehicles such as the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport now have to dig much deeper into their pockets to fill up with fuel (BBM). This follows a surge in the price of non-subsidised Solar diesel since 18 April 2026. The price increase affects several diesel fuel products, both those sold by Pertamina and private businesses like BP. For example, the price of Dexlite at Pertamina petrol stations is now at Rp23,600 per litre, up from Rp14,200 per litre previously. Meanwhile, Pertamina Dex has risen to Rp23,900 per litre from Rp14,500 per litre. BP Ultimate Diesel has even broken through Rp25,560 per litre, jumping from Rp14,620 per litre before. This significant rise in fuel prices directly impacts the operating costs for owners of diesel vehicles, particularly for full tank refills. Based on specifications, the Toyota Fortuner’s tank capacity is around 80 litres, while the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has a capacity of 68 litres. Assuming a fill-up from empty using the same fuel, here are the estimated costs for a full tank refill: - Using Pertamina Dex at Rp23,900 per litre: Toyota Fortuner: 80 litres x Rp23,900 = Rp1,912,000 Pajero Sport: 68 litres x Rp23,900 = Rp1,625,200 - Using Dexlite at Rp23,600 per litre: Toyota Fortuner: 80 litres x Rp23,600 = Rp1,888,000 Pajero Sport: 68 litres x Rp23,600 = Rp1,604,800 - Using BP Ultimate Diesel at Rp25,560 per litre: Toyota Fortuner: 80 litres x Rp25,560 = Rp2,044,800 Pajero Sport: 68 litres x Rp25,560 = Rp1,738,080 This means that for a full refill, Fortuner users now need to prepare funds exceeding Rp2 million if using the most expensive diesel fuel. Meanwhile, Pajero Sport owners must spend Rp1,738,080.
