Formula Asia racing at Sentul

JAKARTA (JP): Seventeen foreign racers from eight countries are to take part in the final round of the Formula Asia series at the Sentul circuit near Bogor, an organizing committee official said.

The Formula Asia races will be held today and tomorrow and are the fifth leg in the series of Formula Asia races for the international and national categories. They are the last races organized by the Indonesian Motor Sport Association this year.

Maurizio Mediani of Italy, Mike Potenciano of the Philippines, two racers from England, David Somenscher and Piers Hunniset, Alex Lee of Hong Kong, and Narain Kartikeyan of India are among the foreign racers participating in this event.

Indonesia is relying on its top racers Ananda Mikola of Humphuss Marlboro and Roy Haryanto of Marlboro Castrol to win the race.

Rio Sarwono, the circuit's director said Thursday this race will determine the winner of the last series of the Formula Asia races this year.

"Indonesian racers are training hard for the race. Alex has participated in several races held at Sentul and has also followed a series of Formula Asia races. Narain is favorite to win the race," Rio said.

Kartikeyan leads with 136 points and Hunniset is second with 107. (lnt)
