Forming an Export Authority, Prabowo Confident It Can Safeguard State Revenues of Rp2.657 Trillion Per Year
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto announced the formation of the Badan Pengelola Ekspor Sumber Daya Alam (SDA), which will be Indonesia’s sole exporter, through a Government Regulation (PP) issued today, Wednesday 20 May 2026. This was announced after Prabowo presented key figures from the Macro Economic Framework and Core Fiscal Policy (KEM PPKF) 2027 at the 19th Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR). ‘Today the government of the Republic of Indonesia that I lead issues a government regulation on the Governance of Natural Resource Exports,’ Prabowo said at the DPR in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
He targets that the Export Authority will be able to prevent revenue leakage, thereby delivering state treasury inflows of up to US150billionperyearoraroundRp2, 657.85trillion(assuminganexchangerateofRp17, 719perUS).
‘The potential that can be saved from that leakage is US$150 billion each year. Whether we are able or not depends on our courage and resolve, and whether we work together well or not,’ he said.
In the future, the Export Authority will be the sole body to handle all of Indonesia’s natural resource export sales overseas, spanning coal, palm oil, iron ore, and ferro alloys.
‘We will require sales to be conducted through state-owned enterprises designated by the government as the sole exporters. In other words, every export result will be forwarded to the government-designated SOEs for the operators of those activities,’ Prabowo said.
He believes this new export mechanism will also root out various dishonest business practices that have long exploited Indonesia’s natural wealth and driven it abroad.
Moreover, Prabowo stated that losses from dishonest practices over 22 years amount to US$343 billion, or around Rp 6,069.04 trillion. Several practices cited include underinvoicing, underaccounting, transfer pricing, and even the siphoning of Export Earnings (DHE).
‘Because we do not want our revenue to be the lowest, due to our lack of courage to manage our nation’s assets,’ Prabowo said.
‘This policy will optimise tax revenue and state revenue from the management of our natural resources. We hope our revenue can be like that of Mexico, the Philippines, and our neighbouring countries,’ he added.
