Former West Java Governor Danny Setiawan Passes Away

The former Governor of West Java for the 2003-2008 period, Danny Setiawan, passed away in the early hours of this Saturday (19/9). He was 81 years old.

The news of his passing was shared by the current Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, via a post on his personal Instagram account @dedimulyadi71.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. We express our deepest condolences on the passing of Mr H. Danny Setiawan, Governor of West Java for the 2003-2008 period, today, Saturday, 19 September 2026,” said Dedi on Saturday (19/9).

“May the deceased be accepted in his faith, have his sins forgiven, and receive a noble place by the side of Allah SWT. May the bereaved family be granted fortitude and patience,” he added.

Furthermore, he also remembered Danny Setiawan as a figure who contributed significantly to West Java during his career in government.

Dedi noted that Danny Setiawan produced many works for the advancement of West Java, both during his tenure as Regional Secretary and as Governor of West Java.

“I believe Danny Setiawan was a practitioner of goodness with many works carried out for the progress of West Java province, both when serving as Regional Secretary and as Governor,” he remarked.

Danny Setiawan was the 12th Governor of West Java. According to official data from the West Java Provincial Government portal, Danny led West Java from 13 June 2003 to 13 June 2008.

During his administration, Danny was accompanied by Nu’man Abdul Hakim as the Vice Governor of West Java.

Danny was a bureaucrat who built his career within the West Java Provincial Government environment. Before becoming governor, he held several strategic positions, including Head of the Regional Revenue Agency (Dispenda) of West Java Province and Regional Secretary (Sekda) of West Java Province.
