Former Vice President Try Sutrisno Dies Aged 90; Palace Orders Half-Mast Flag for Three Days
Jakarta – The State Palace has instructed every state institution to fly flags at half-mast in honour of the passing of Try Sutrisno, the sixth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Try Sutrisno passed away at the age of 90 on Monday, 2 March 2026 at 06.58 WIT at Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital in Jakarta.
The State Secretary Minister, Prasetyo Hadi, communicated this through circular letter number B-02/M/S/TU.00.00/03/2026 dated 2 March 2026.
Additionally, the government has designated 2 to 4 March 2026 as a period of National Mourning.
“During this period, it is also declared as a period of National Mourning,” said the State Secretary.
The circular letter was addressed to the leaders of state institutions, the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, the Attorney General, the Commander of the Indonesian National Military (TNI), and the Head of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri).
