Former Vice President Try Sutrisno Admitted to Military Hospital from 16 February Before Death
JAKARTA – Indonesia’s sixth Vice President, Try Sutrisno, was admitted to the Armed Forces Central Hospital (RSPAD) Gatot Soebroto from 16 February 2026 before passing away on Monday, 2 March 2026.
Try’s son, Taufik Dwi Cahyono, stated that his father was hospitalised due to a sudden loss of appetite. “He was admitted from 16 February. Essentially, his appetite suddenly dropped, so he was brought here, his condition fluctuated, he was given medication and food,” Taufik said at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto on Monday, according to reports from Kompas TV.
Taufik explained that his father had no specific serious illness requiring hospitalisation. “There is no extraordinary illness, God willing, Doctor. His appetite simply declined, he struggled to eat, which naturally led to difficulty drinking and dehydration. He was brought to hospital, and this is usually the pattern with his fluctuating condition,” Taufik said.
Taufik noted that the medical team at RSPAD and from the presidency had provided the best possible treatment to Try. However, on Monday morning, the family received news that Try’s health had deteriorated and he had passed away.
The body of Try Sutrisno is currently being held at a funeral home in Jakarta’s Menteng district. Subsequently, funeral prayers will be held at Sunda Kelapa Mosque, followed by burial at the Heroes Cemetery in Kalibata.
