Former US Vice President Launches Scathing Critique After Trump's Large-Scale Attack on Iran
Former US Vice President Kamala Harris has issued a scathing rebuke of the large-scale American military strikes against Iran. Harris has accused US President Donald Trump of dragging the United States into a war that the American people do not want.
“Let me be clear. I opposed regime change war in Iran, and our troops have been placed in danger for Trump’s war of choice,” Harris wrote via her official X account, as cited by detikNews on Sunday (1 March 2026).
Harris described the US-led assault on Iran as a dangerous and unnecessary gamble, accusing her opponent in the 2024 US presidential election of dishonesty. Trump had promised during his campaign to end wars.
“Then last year, he said, ‘We have destroyed’ Iran’s nuclear programme. That is also a lie,” the Democratic politician stated firmly.
Harris also characterised the US strikes on Iran as unwise, unjustifiable, and unsupported by the American public. She noted that Trump did not receive congressional approval to attack Iran.
“There is no doubt in our opposition to Donald Trump’s war of choice, and Congress must use all available powers to prevent him from further involving us in this conflict,” she added.
The United States and Israel conducted a large-scale assault on Iran on Saturday (28 February). They targeted command and control facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), ballistic missile and drone launch sites, military airfields, and Iran’s air defence systems.
The Iranian Red Crescent reported that the joint assault killed more than 200 people in Iran and injured nearly 750. The strikes hit 24 of Iran’s 31 provinces.
