Former Ukrainian Deputy PM Sergei Arbuzov to Run for Russian Parliament

Former Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Arbuzov has registered as a candidate for the Russian legislative elections this September, a representative of the A Just Russia party said on Saturday. “For the electoral districts of the new territories, Crimea, and Sevastopol, the well-known Ukrainian politician, former governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, and former deputy prime minister of Ukraine, Sergei Arbuzov, will be nominated there,” the party source told RIA Novosti. Arbuzov served as governor of the National Bank of Ukraine from 2010 to 2012. He was then appointed deputy prime minister of Ukraine in December 2012, serving until early 2014. Between 28 January and 27 February 2014, Arbuzov briefly served as acting prime minister of Ukraine. Russian voters will cast their ballots in the State Duma election—the lower house of the Russian parliament—as well as municipal elections from 18 to 20 September 2026. A Just Russia, led by Sergei Mironov, is a centre-left party founded in 2006 through the merger of the Rodina Party, the Russian Party of Life, and the Russian Pensioners’ Party. In 2021, the Patriots Party and the For Truth Party merged into the party. The A Just Russia faction is currently the third-largest faction in the State Duma.
