Former Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra Visits Prabowo in Jakarta

President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra at his private residence in Jakarta on Wednesday evening. The meeting took place after Prabowo had seen off Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Yogyakarta International Airport.

Thaksin was accompanied by his daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who served as Thailand’s prime minister from 2024 to 2025. According to a statement from the Cabinet Secretariat, the gathering was warm and cordial, serving as a moment to strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two figures.

During the relaxed encounter, Prabowo and Thaksin exchanged views on various global strategic developments and regional dynamics. Thaksin, who was prime minister of Thailand from 2001 to 2006, currently contributes to Indonesia as a member of the advisory board for the Danantara investment authority.
