Former Student Claims Trapped into Unregistered Marriage Following Rape in Sleman

A former student of the Ash-Sholihah Islamic Boarding School in Jonggrangan, Sleman, identified by the initials FN (21), was entered into an unregistered marriage following the exposure of a rape case involving a school official, NH (also known as GN). The victim’s family alleges that the marriage was a trap.

“We strongly deny that the unregistered marriage was a mutual agreement, as there was no genuine or voluntary agreement between the parties involved,” stated the victim’s legal counsel, Gusti Rian Saputra, on Monday (14/09/2026).

“The key point is that this unregistered marriage, or this trap, was, in our view, done without the consent of FN herself, despite her being 21 years old and an adult,” he added.

Gusti explained that when the case came to light in July 2026, the victim’s parents were forcibly picked up by representatives of the boarding school before the unregistered marriage took place. At that time, the parents were unaware that their daughter had been a victim of rape.

Gusti stated that he obtained this information while gathering testimonies from the victim, her parents, and her sibling, all of whom provided identical accounts.

“In mid-July, the victim’s parents were picked up by representatives of the boarding school using a car. The parents initially refused several times as they were in the middle of trading,” explained Gusti.

He noted that the parents were repeatedly pressured by the school representatives to leave without being informed of the purpose of the trip. The parents were reportedly rushed to a location.

“Throughout the journey, the person picking them up did not disclose the reason, until they arrived at a house—which was later revealed to be a house belonging to an acquaintance of the school, located far from the school in a rural area. The parents did not know where they were going,” said Gusti.

“Upon arrival, the parents were shocked to find a crowd, including school representatives, and that food and fruit had already been prepared,” he added.

The situation at the location left the parents confused. Upon entering the house, a high-ranking official from the boarding school reportedly began an address to the parents.

“A high-ranking official of the boarding school stated, ‘All sins are forgiven except for shirk (polytheism),’ according to the testimony of the parents,” said Gusti.

“They were then informed that FN was pregnant. I must emphasise, they were only told she was pregnant; they were not told the cause of the pregnancy. This left the parents in total shock,” he revealed.

Shortly after, FN emerged from the back of the house to meet her parents. Following this, the parents were allegedly cornered and pressured by the school officials.

“The parents were pressured with questions like, ‘What is the solution? Since she is pregnant, what is the solution?’” Gusti explained.

“The parents were in a state of shock and unable to think clearly. Ultimately, the suggestion of an unregistered marriage was made because they did not know how to react, especially since they were unaware of the circumstances leading to the pregnancy,” he added.

Previously, the Ash-Sholihah Islamic Boarding School in Jonggrangan, Sleman, claimed that its former official, NH (alias GN), had entered into an unregistered marriage with FN. The school denied the rape allegation, claiming it was an act of adultery (zina).

“In July 2026, a third party claimed to have had illicit relations with the perpetrator. This was only discovered when the perpetrator’s sisters-in-law questioned the third party, who admitted to having sexual relations with NH twice,” said Ahmad Khairut Anwar, the son of the school’s caretaker, during a press conference on Friday (11/09).

When asked for clarification, NH admitted to the rape and was subsequently dismissed from the school. The school then took the stance of facilitating the unregistered marriage between NH and FN. The school claims this marriage was agreed upon by the victim’s parents.

“As an expression of the school’s responsibility regarding the incident, the school facilitated the unregistered marriage between NH and FN, which was attended by both of FN’s parents and NH’s uncle, occurring on 7 July 2026,” he concluded.
