Former South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin to be buried in Palembang tomorrow

Former South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin has passed away. Alex Noerdin will be buried tomorrow.

According to detikSumbagsel, Alex Noerdin breathed his last at Siloam Semanggi Hospital in Jakarta today at approximately 1:30 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB) after undergoing medical care.

The family spokesman, Okta Alyang, when met at the funeral home, stated that the deceased’s body is currently still in Jakarta and has been prayed over at the home of one of his children.

“The body is currently in Jakarta. A funeral prayer has already been held at his child’s residence,” he told reporters on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

According to him, the family is currently preparing the process of returning the body to Palembang for burial in his hometown.

Okta explained that the body is planned to be sent from Jakarta on Thursday morning and taken directly to the funeral home on Jalan Merdeka, Palembang.

After the ceremonies at the funeral home are completed, the body will be buried at the family cemetery at Kebun Bunga Public Cemetery, Palembang City. “The plan is for the deceased to be buried in the family cemetery at Kebun Bunga Public Cemetery in Palembang,” Okta clarified.
