Former Semarang Mayor Files Review Petition with Supreme Court

Semarang (ANTARA) - Former Mayor of Semarang, Hevearita G. Rahayu, alias Mbak Ita, has filed a petition for judicial review (PK) with the Supreme Court regarding the decision in the corruption case within the Semarang City Government for the period 2022-2024, which implicated her. Mbak Ita’s legal counsel, Erna Ratnaningsih, after the judicial review petition hearing at the Semarang Corruption Court (Tipikor), on Thursday, stated that at least five new pieces of evidence were submitted in this extraordinary legal remedy. In addition, she said, there are suspected judicial errors in the first-instance court that tried the case. One of the new pieces of evidence presented, according to her, is proof that the convict never enjoyed the benefits from the organisation of the Semarak Simpang Lima event, which was funded from the proceeds of illegal levies (pungli). The judicial review petition hearing was chaired by Chief Judge Edwin Pudyono. The next hearing will still be held at the Semarang Corruption Court for evidence examination, before it is subsequently forwarded to the Supreme Court. Previously, former Semarang Mayor Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu was sentenced to five years in prison in the corruption case in the city government during the period 2022 to 2024.
