Former scholarship recipient suspected of falsifying research to secure free overseas travel, LPDP investigates

Former LPDP scholarship recipient P is suspected of involvement in falsifying research at the 2026 International Society of Pneumonia and Pneumococcal Diseases (ISPPD) conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.

LPDP Legal and Communication Division Head M Lukmanul Hak stated they are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

“LP DP will further examine compliance with scholarship contract obligations and coordinate with relevant parties, including universities, to obtain comprehensive clarity,” Lukmanul told Kompas.com on Thursday (28 May 2026).

“The results of this investigation will form the basis for LP DP’s follow-up actions in accordance with applicable regulations,” he added.

LP DP emphasised its commitment to upholding integrity, professionalism, and academic ethics.

“LP DP does not tolerate any form of violation in scientific activities,” he stressed.

“Based on preliminary internal data checks, the individual named Prihantini is recorded as a former LP DP scholarship recipient who completed their studies in 202,” ungkap Lukmanul.

In addition to identity falsification, the research presented is suspected of using artificial intelligence (AI) to fabricate data, images, and the entire scientific paper.

The modus operandi is suspected to have been deliberately carried out to secure a travel grant for free overseas travel.
