Former Riau Governor's Aide Sues KPK for Rp 11 Billion, KPK Affirms Readiness to Face It
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has responded to the lawsuit filed by former aide-de-camp (ADC) to the Riau Governor, Marjani, amounting to Rp 11 billion. The lawsuit arises from Marjani’s name being implicated in the ‘preman quota’ case, leading to his designation as a suspect.
“Regarding the lawsuit filed by Mr MJN, civil matters are indeed rights granted by law,” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, during a press conference at the KPK building in South Jakarta on Monday (13/4/2026).
Taufik emphasised that the KPK is ready to face the lawsuit. They have invited Marjani to proceed with it.
“So we invite him, and the KPK is also ready; perhaps our Legal Bureau will handle the lawsuit,” he said.
Nevertheless, Taufik stated that the investigation process against Marjani will continue. According to him, corruption criminal cases must take precedence.
“That corruption cases should be prioritised over other cases. As we know, corruption is an extraordinary crime, and that is enshrined in the norms. Meaning, corruption criminal cases must be prioritised,” he explained.
Previously reported, Marjani sued the KPK for Rp 11 billion. The unlawful act lawsuit was filed following his name being dragged into the ‘preman quota’ case and his designation as a suspect.
The unlawful act (PMH) lawsuit was filed at the Pekanbaru District Court. In addition to the KPK, Marjani also implicated KPK investigators handling the case, as well as other names, including defendants Arief Setiawan and M Dani Nurssalam.
“(The PMH lawsuit) is against first, the state institution, namely the KPK; second, all investigators who conducted the examination of the case. Third, the names that have implicated our client’s name in the main case during the investigation process,” said Marjani’s lawyer, Ahmad Yusuf, as quoted from detikSumut in Pekanbaru on Friday (10/4).
Ahmad Yusuf revealed that this lawsuit is a legal effort to seek justice that has directly impacted losses to Marjani personally, his family, as well as socially and economically. These losses are the reason for filing the lawsuit at the Pekanbaru District Court.
Without holding back, in the lawsuit, Marjani through his lawyers demanded Rp 11 billion. This large amount is an accumulation of material losses of Rp 1 billion and immaterial losses of Rp 10 billion.
“Our client has lost steady income, borne various costs during the legal process, and lost economic opportunities. Total material losses reach Rp 1 billion,” said Ahmad Yusuf.
