Former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Detained in KPK Hajj Quota Corruption Investigation
Jakarta, Kompas.com — Former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas was detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) wearing a KPK detainee vest after being questioned as a suspect in an alleged hajj quota corruption case on Thursday 12 March 2026.
According to Kompas.com monitoring, Yaqut left the interrogation room at 18:48 WIB. He was taken by the KPK team to a detention vehicle bound for the KPK Detention House at the Red and White Building in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, members of the Banser mass organisation repeatedly called out Yaqut’s name.
Kompas.com observed that Yaqut arrived at the KPK at 13:00 WIB. He appeared to be escorted by three officers and was accompanied by his legal representative Melissa Anggraini.
“I have attended the summons from the KPK investigator, with God’s blessing,” said Yaqut. “This is my opportunity to provide a statement,” he added. “There is no delay,” he said.
When asked about his detention that day, Yaqut did not respond seriously. “Ask yourself,” he replied.
