Jakarta — Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has formally detained former Religion Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in relation to a corruption case involving Hajj quota allocation. Qoumas had previously been named as a suspect in January 2026.

The detention took place following an interrogation session that ended at 18:45 WIB. Qoumas arrived at the KPK building at 13:05 WIB on Thursday, 12 March 2026. He was observed wearing an orange detention waistcoat, escorted from the second floor of the KPK building with his hands shackled.

“I have never received a single rupiah from the case alleged against me,” Qoumas stated whilst being escorted by the KPK. “Everything I did regarding this policy was solely for the safety of the pilgrims,” he added.

According to the Statement of Assets filed by Yaqut Cholil Qoumas with the Anti-Corruption Commission on 20 January 2025, his total net wealth stands at IDR 13.74 billion.

The statement indicates that Qoumas’s total assets amount to IDR 14.55 billion, derived from property assets, vehicles, other moveable assets, and cash equivalents.

The largest portion of Qoumas’s wealth comes from land and buildings, valued at IDR 9.52 billion. He is recorded as owning six parcels of land and buildings located across Rembang Regency and East Jakarta.

His transportation assets and machinery comprise two vehicles with a combined value of IDR 2.21 billion: a 2015 Mazda CX-5 minibus valued at IDR 260 million and a 2024 Toyota Alphard minibus valued at IDR 1.95 billion.

Beyond physical assets, Qoumas also holds cash and cash equivalents totalling IDR 2.59 billion. Additionally, other moveable assets are recorded at IDR 220.75 million.

The statement also includes declared liabilities of IDR 800 million. After deducting these obligations, Qoumas’s total net wealth is recorded at IDR 13.74 billion.
