Former Rector Files Counter-Report Against IAKN Rector Over Alleged Document Forgery
The former Rector of the Kupang State Christian Institute (IAKN), Harun Natonis, has reported the current IAKN Rector, I Made Suardana, to the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police for alleged document forgery on Tuesday (1/9/2026). This report follows a day after Suardana reported Harun for alleged assault on the campus grounds on Monday (31/8/2026).
“We are reporting IMS (I Made Suardana) in his capacity as Rector of IAKN to the NTT Regional Police today, regarding the alleged criminal act of forging letters or documents,” stated Harun’s legal counsel, Rian Kapument, on Tuesday (1/9/2026).
Rian revealed that the case originated in 2024. At that time, I Made Suardana, as the newly appointed Rector replacing Harun, issued a letter dated 14 October 2024, addressed to the National Civil Service Agency (BKN).
“The essence of the letter was that Harun Natonis, as one of the IAKN lecturers, could not have his rank proposed to IV/b because his position as Senior Lecturer was still in process,” Rian explained.
However, according to him, Harun Natonis had already attained the position of Senior Lecturer since 1 April 2017. “As a result of this inaccurate letter, our client claims to have been blocked by the BKN, preventing him from proposing his promotion through the system,” Rian clarified.
Harun Natonis himself asserted that he had obtained a promotion from Pembina Utama Madya (IV/a) to Pembina Utama (IV/b) effective from 1 October 2024. This promotion was supported by a decision from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and completed technical personnel processes. “However, shortly after the promotion, a new problem emerged,” said Harun.
Harun explained that on 31 October 2024, approximately one month after his promotion, a letter from the Rector of IAKN Kupang was sent to the BKN regarding his promotion status. “That letter was created and sent without my knowledge. I only discovered the issue several months later when I intended to process my salary adjustment based on the IV/b rank I had obtained,” he explained.
In the police report, the alleged forgery is linked to the letter dated 14 October 2024, which Harun claims contains false information. “The core issue being contested is the statement that he could not be proposed for promotion to IV/b because his Senior Lecturer position was still in process,” said the 2020-2024 IAKN Rector.
Meanwhile, Made has not provided a response to inquiries regarding the report at the time of publication.
Previously, Made reported an alleged assault that occurred in the postgraduate courtyard of IAKN Kupang on Monday (31/8/2026) morning. “I was assaulted this morning, after the morning assembly,” Made stated from the ICU of Kupang Hospital.
Made revealed that the incident began after the morning assembly, when Harun approached him to question the promotion processing, which he claimed had been unresolved for approximately two years. Responding to the inquiry, Made stated that the matter had been handled. “I replied that if the required decree (SK) documents were available, the processing could be carried out immediately,” Made explained.
According to Made, Harun made certain statements to him before the physical altercation occurred. “Shortly after, Harun Natonis struck me once in the chest,” he added.
