The Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati) has expanded its corruption investigation within the Ministry of Public Works (PU), naming three new suspects allegedly involved in corrupt practices across several government projects between 2023 and 2025. The move broadens a case that had previously ensnared a number of parties linked to projects under the Directorate General of Water Resources (SDA) and the Directorate General of Human Settlements (Cipta Karya).

“Today, Wednesday, 24 June 2026, investigators at the Jakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office have named YRW, the former Acting Director of Irrigation and Swamps at the Directorate General of Water Resources serving from July 2025 to January 2026, as a suspect,” the Jakarta Kejati stated on Thursday (25/6/2026).

In addition to YRW, investigators also named RW, the Director of CV TAS, and JSR, the Director of PT BKS, as suspects in a case of alleged corruption involving routine expenditure at the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Human Settlements. All three suspects were immediately detained for investigative purposes and will be held for the next 20 days at the Salemba Detention Centre in Central Jakarta.

Investigators suspect YRW played a key role in corrupt practices related to a number of projects at the Directorate General of SDA. The case is said to be connected to another suspect, identified by the initials DP, who was detained earlier in May. “The role of suspect YRW, together with DP, was to extort and/or accept bribes and/or gratuities in the form of cash amounting to more than Rp 2 billion from several state-owned construction firms and private parties related to several projects at the Directorate General of Water Resources,” the Kejati said.

Meanwhile, in a separate case within the Directorate General of Human Settlements, investigators found indications of fabricated work allegedly used to drain state funds. “The roles of RW and JSR were to jointly, with other suspects, engineer fictitious projects at the Secretariat General of Human Settlements during the 2023 and 2024 periods, resulting in state losses of at least more than Rp 16 billion,” the Kejati revealed.

The case adds to a long list of governance issues in government projects that have recently come under scrutiny. In addition to tracing the flow of funds and the parties involved, investigators are also moving to secure assets suspected of being linked to the criminal acts. “In investigating this case, investigators have carried out seizures including two luxury cars, a sum of cash in US dollars, the collection of evidence, and an in-depth probe into the involvement of other parties from the Ministry of Public Works, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector,” the Kejati stated.

According to the Kejati, the investigation will not stop with the current naming of suspects. Authorities are still open to the possibility of other parties being involved as the probe deepens. “Currently, investigators continue to develop the investigation by examining witnesses, state finance experts, and suspects, as well as tracking and seizing assets to increase the amount of recovery of state financial losses,” the Jakarta Kejati concluded.
