Former PT PIS Director Faces Verdict Hearing in Crude Oil Corruption Case Today
JAKARTA - The Director of Gas, Petrochemicals, and New Business at PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) for the 2024-2025 period, Arief Sukmara, faces the verdict reading in the alleged crude oil corruption case at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Monday (11/5/2026).
“The defendant’s trial for Arief Sukmara, agenda: verdict,” said the Central Jakarta District Court spokesperson Andi Saputra to reporters.
The hearing will be chaired by Judge Adek Nurhadi and is scheduled for 10:00 WIB in the Kusuma Atmadja courtroom.
In addition to Arief, the panel of judges’ verdict will also be read for three other defendants, namely the Vice President (VP) of Crude, Product Trading, and Commercial (CPTC) Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) at PT Pertamina (Persero) for the 2019-2020 period, Dwi Sudarsono.
Previously, Arief was demanded a prison sentence of 10 years, Indra and Dwi each 12 years in prison, and Martin 13 years in prison in the case.
The defendants were also imposed a fine of Rp1 billion, with the provision that if not paid, it would be replaced (subsider) with imprisonment for 190 days.
The four defendants were also demanded to be imposed an additional penalty in the form of repayment of replacement money each amounting to Rp5 billion, subsider with imprisonment for 7 years each for Dwi and Martin, 5 years for Arief, and 2 years and 6 months for Indra.
In the alleged corruption case of crude oil and refinery product governance at PT Pertamina (Persero) for the 2013-2024 period, Arief is charged with causing state financial losses amounting to Rp285.18 trillion.
The three stages in question are in the procurement of fuel terminal leasing by Pertamina, the provision of special assignment fuel compensation (JBKP) Research Octane Number (RON) 90 by the government to Pertamina Patra Niaga in 2022 and 2023, and the sale of non-subsidised diesel to PT PPN in 2020-2021.
It is stated that Arief’s actions were carried out together with the Director of Central Marketing and Trading at Pertamina Patra Niaga for the 2020-2021 period, Hasto Wibowo, Senior Vice President (SVP) ISC Pertamina for the 2017-2018 period, Toto Nugroho; Hanung; and Dwi Sudarsono.
Then, together with the President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) for the 2021-2023 period, Alfian Nasution, Indra Putra, and Martin.
In the procurement of fuel terminal leasing by Pertamina, the eight defendants had enriched the Commissioner of PT Pelayaran Mahameru Kencana Abadi (PMKA), Gading Ramadhan Juedo, the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa, Muhammad Kerry Andrianto Riza, and the beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak, Mohammad Riza Chalid, by Rp2.9 trillion in the Merak Fuel Terminal (TBBM) leasing activities.
