Former Presidents and VPs Attend Pancasila Day Ceremony; Megawati Present, Jokowi and SBY Absent

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Several former presidents and vice presidents attended the Pancasila Day commemoration ceremony at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Central Jakarta on Monday (1/6/2026).

According to a YouTube broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat, attendees included former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, former Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla (10th and 12th) and Ma’ruf Amin (13th), and Soraya Hamzah Haz, wife of former Vice President Hamzah Haz (9th).

Prabowo, serving as the ceremony’s inspector, greeted the attendees.

‘Former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who also serves as Chair of the Pancasila Ideology Development Body, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, former Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla and Ma’ruf Amin, and Mrs Soraya Hamzah Haz, wife of former Vice President Hamzah Haz,’ Prabowo stated from the main podium.

Regarding SBY, the Democratic Party confirmed that the father of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono would likely not attend the Pancasila Day ceremony.

‘We are currently in Bandung. Thank you for the invitation, but Mr SBY has a series of events in Bandung until the 1st,’ Andi told KOMPAS.com on Saturday (30/5/2026).

When asked if this meant SBY would miss the Pancasila Day ceremony, Andi replied simply, ‘Yes.’
